La Pucelle: Celebrating Joan of Arc The Suspicious Cheese Lords present the compelling story of the Maid of Orleans, for this, the 600th anniversary of her birth. Since the day she first rallied the demoralized French troops and led them to inspired victory against the English she has been praised, vilified, and re-interpreted by six centuries of poets, musicians, historians, and filmmakers. Join us as we tell her story through contemporary accounts of her life and trial, as well as in her own words, enhanced by renaissance choral works of Guillaume Dufay, John Dunstaple, and others. Our special guests for this absorbing program are actors Emma Jaster and Oran Sandel, and medieval string player Tina Chancey. Free. |
